Goldens or Labs?

For those of you who know our dogs... We just had
to shave them! We were having a serious hair problem. So here is a picture of them, don't they
problem. So here is a picture of them, don't they look different? It looks like we traded our Goldens in for yellow labs.

We made it home...

Well it's official, we are finally South Dakotans again! It feels like we have waited a long time to say that and we couldn't be happier. It's nice to be back around friends and family again. Rylan is doing wonderful, growing each and every day. He is super sweet and loves to give smiles and will even giggle. He weighs 10 lbs and has grown an inch since birth. We just took him for his baby pictures -- you can check them out at: http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/store.aspx?p=27727 click on "Nikki Cody" and the password is Rylan. We will welcome your opinions on your favorite pictures! Rylan is sleeping awesome, sometimes even for six hours. I'm enjoying staying home with him and will be for another few months. Casey likes his new job and especially likes getting off at 3pm and finally having weekends off! We hope everyone has a very wonderful holiday. Love the Codys.

2 weeks old...

Rylan is already two weeks old, time flies so fast. Casey is still home from work for another 4 days and we are enjoying our special time with Rylan. He is doing well so far. Our nights are not the same as he wakes every 2 hours to eat. I can't wait till he can last longer without eating. We have been to the pediatrician weekly and so far things are going great. Rylan has pretty big hands and feet and long arms, I can tell he will outgrow me in no time (not that it's going to be hard), looks like he will most likely get his daddy's height. We will be moving in 16 days to South Dakota and will be able to share our buddle of joy with our family and friends. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Love the Codys.

The Delivery...

Rylan was born November 1st at 7:52am. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and measured at 20 3/4 inches. On friday I had contractions all day however not very consistent. Around 11:45pm they became consistent at about five minutes apart. Around 1:15am Casey decided it was time to go to the hospital and thankfully he did. We arrived at the hospital around 1:45am and we went to the triage to hopefully be admitted. They checked my cervix and I was still 3cm dilated and 70% effaced, same as earlier that day when I went to the doctor. They wanted me to wait an hour to see if anything changed. So Casey and I walked about and when they went to check me again I did not change. I was fearful they were going to send me home claiming I was not in true labor. After calling my doctor on the phone they decided to let me stay one more hour. During this hour we relaxed and turned the lights off and I laid still. At 5am they checked me and I was at 4 1/2 cm dilated and 95% effaced. Yeah - I was progressing:) Thank goodness as I was in way too much pain to go home, I probably would have refused.

I was then taken to my delivery room where my nurse prepared me for the delivery. I received an epidural around 6:15am, thankfully as I was telling Casey I was not sure if I could do it anymore. Then all of a sudden we had a very scary moment. I had 2 people in my room to about 10 people and they were putting an oxygen mask on me. The doctor on call at the hospital came in and checked me and I was completely dilated and ready to deliver. I was having constant contractions which made little Rylan's heart rate drop extremely low. They gave me a drug to stop me from contracting and rushed me to an OR for a possible emergency c-section. Thankfully the drug worked very quick and Rylan's heart rate went back to normal. I then had to wait about 15 minutes for my doctor to get there to deliver me. Once she arrived we prepared for a normal birth. I started pushing around 7:15am and thankfully delivered at 7:52am. The entire experience went by so quick! We stayed in the hospital for one night and was discharged the next day. Rylan is a true blessing and we are enjoying each moment we have with him, even the sleepless nights. Love the Codys.

6 days past my due date:(

Wow what a week of pregnancy. I started having contractions on Monday and they have continued throughout the week. We had our two fetal heart rate tests done to make sure the baby is okay and he passed, so that's good news! I went to the doctor today and I'm 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced. So close! My body is really taking the long route on delivering this baby. The doctor said the average labor is 18 hours long but I've already experienced about 8 hours of it during this last week. Let's hope he is right!

If the baby does not come this weekend we will be heading to the hospital at 6am on Monday. The doctor will break my water and hopefully that will put me into labor. If it doesn't he will have to give me some drugs to get it started. The doctor is hopeful just breaking my water will do the trick.

We are in the last final stretch thankfully, Casey and I are so ready to meet our first child.

October 25th, 2008

Well it's officially my due date and I'm still pregnant. I went to the doctor last week and I'm sill 1 cm dilated and moved to 60% effaced. So not progressing very quick at all. I now have to go to the doctor twice a week to have a test called fetal heart rate monitoring. Basically I'll sit in a chair for 30-45 minutes and they will have a monitor attached to my tummy to monitor his heart rate to make sure he is not under stress. This is common procedure once you are considered post-labor. The doctor will induce me on November 3rd if I have not yet gone into labor by myself. So he will be here soon whether he likes it or not!

Casey and I are starting to plan our big move home! We feel blessed everyday knowing that we will be around friends and family in just 6 weeks especially with a newborn. We are planning on leaving Michigan on December 1st. Casey and his dad will do the driving and I'll be flying with the baby, so it shouldn't be too bad with the little one. Take care, love the Codys.

Guess what....

Nope I'm still pregnant...but we are moving to Sioux Falls, SD the first week in December. Casey received a job transfer and will now be an ICE Agent instead of a Border Patrol Agent. He will still be doing immigration work but just not on the border anymore. His job will be Monday thru Friday 8-5 and have holidays off. We could not be any happier. Casey and I have missed living close to family and friends since the day we left. Michigan ended up being a quick pit stop but we are okay with that. So all you in South Dakota, can't wait to see you again. Love the "VERY HAPPY" Codys!

One week to go...

I'm due one week from today and unfortunately still pregnant. We are extremely ready to welcome this little boy into our life. I went to the doctor yesterday and my body did not progress any closer to labor, still 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I head back to the doctor on Thursday unless something happens in the mean time. This waiting process is very hard as I'm sure every parent knows what I'm talking about. Hopefully it happens sooner then later, as I will not be very happy if I go past by due date and beyond. So let's pray this little guy surprises us soon. Love the Codys.

38 Week Appointment

I went to the doctor today and my body is slowly getting ready for labor. I'm dilated just 1 cm and 50% effaced, so I still have a ways to go. The baby has dropped but not completely. Looks like the little one will arrive close to his due date. My blood pressure is still great and all the other tests are good as well. I'll be back at the doctor in one week to see if anything has changed. If I do go past my due date, I'll most likely be induced on or before November 3rd. So at least we know an end date.

Hope all is well with everyone. Love the Codys.

4 weeks to go...

We have started preparing for our little one to join our life. Here are some pictures of Casey putting together our car seat/stroller, swing and crib.

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have reached the point that if I were to go into labor the doctors would not stop me from delivering, so great news! A full term pregnancy is considered either 37 or 38 weeks so we are almost there. I have started the weekly visits to the doctor where they test my blood pressure, protein, growth, baby's heartbeat, and weight. So far things are looking good. I have no swelling yet and the back pain has gone away, so i really can't complain, I feel great. My doctor said he would be surprised if I went early as it appears I will go till my due date or after. The longest he will let me go will be 41 weeks.

Casey and I had an all day labor class last weekend. It was actually a really great experience and I left there not nearly as terrified about giving birth. We enjoyed the learning and Casey especially enjoyed the relaxation part of the class (yes he took a small snooze)... We were able to see the rooms we will deliver and stay in and they were beautiful! So now the waiting game is on.

32 Weeks Pregnant

Well it's about time to start the website that will keep everyone updated as we go through this exciting event in the next 7 weeks. We are anxious and nervous to welcome our first child as we know our lives will instantly change. The due dates is October 25th, which is just over 7 weeks away or 51 days. It's going to be here quick...

I traveled home to Sioux Falls, South Dakota this past weekend for two baby showers and also my 10 year high school reunion. It was great to see everyone and also have my friends and family celebrate this upcoming event that we will be blessed with. I have uploaded a few pictures so you can all see how I look at 32 weeks pregnant.

I'm feeling pretty good but it's starting to get tough. I can't imagine getting any bigger. Bending over is much more difficult. The back pain is definitely starting, but it's worth it when I feel him kick everyday:)
No name yet, so if anyone has any great ideas please let us know. Hope all is well with everyone. Love the Codys.
